Wanna bet?

Kai Johnson loves three things: women, rugby, and food.

At the height of his career, with no plans to slow down, Kai agrees to co-coach the new women’s team. Everything is falling into place, and he sees no reason to be anything other than happy.

Until he sees Asha--a woman he hasn’t seen since they were teenagers-- is chosen to be part of the team.

Asha M’Baku is finally making a name for herself in the rugby world. Becoming a left wing for the Warriors has been a battle, and she won’t let anything stand in the way of this opportunity. Not being the first openly trans rugby star in the country, not the backlash from her family, and certainly not playboy, Kai Johnson.

She hasn’t seen him since before she transitioned. She hopes he doesn’t recognise her, that she never has to see him, and that she won’t have to deal with the crush she used to have on him.

The last time Kai and Asha spoke, it was ugly and hateful; something neither of them ever got over. Will they be able to put it past them and get through the training season, or will everything they’ve been working for collapse?

Okay. It’s a bet.
