A decade into her twenty-year prison sentence, Jaylah is released on account of good behaviour and a ruthless lawyer.

There’s no-one to greet her when she becomes a free woman. So, she walks into an unknown world with fifteen pounds to her name, the vague knowledge of the old florist who used to help her when she was younger, and a new plumbing qualification.

Jaylah has no plans for her new freedom. She just wants to stay out of trouble and live a normal, boring life.

And then she sees Sekani. The girl she’s been in love with her whole life and the one person she made sure she’d never see again.
